Brass Roots: Regent Hall Brass Arts Festival

Plans are well advanced for the Gala Evening Concert of the Regent Hall Brass Arts Festival, which will take place at Regent Hall on Friday 7 October from 7.30pm. Foden’s Band, under the baton of conductor Bramwell Tovey, has now released details of its programme for the concert, which is: Overture - Candide (Bernstein), La Boda de Luis Alonson (Gimenez arr. Gourlay), The Foolish Things (Strachey arr. Broadbent - cornet soloist: Mark Wilkinson), Helter-Skelter (W. Lemon - soloist: Mark Landon), Someone Like You (Bricusse arr. Barber - trombone soloist John Barber), Crimond (Traditional arr. Bramwell Tovey), Folk Festival (Shostakovich arr. Howard Snell), Deo Gloria (Tovey),  Some Glad Sweet Day (Bernard Tovey, realised by Bramwell Tovey - euphonium soloist: David Thornton), Just As I Am (Wilfred Heaton), The Kingdom Triumphant (Eric Ball). Tickets for the Gala Concert and the daytime events, which will feature the Royal Academy of Music Trombone Choir and Gordon Campbell (12.30pm), Judith Saxton Recital (2.30pm), the National Test-Piece Seminar (5.00pm) and, on the evening before (Thursday 6 October), Regent Hall Band, Songsters and guests (7.45pm), are available by calling 01223 234090 or 07710 505689.
